Nurses often have difficulty articulating the essence of what they do. It is difficult to put into words the often subtle yet profound way that nurses impact lives. It is something that must be experienced, mastered, and emblazoned upon the soul to be truly and deeply understood.

How many times have you been out in public when someone asks you what you do and you respond, “I’m a nurse.” Bland. Generic. Nondescript.
Please acknowledge the ‘family’ caregivers. Look them in the eye, greet them, address them by name when possible, solicit their input, and ask them how they are coping at an appropriate time.
