New Nurse: Create Your Own Path

Never let anyone tell you what your nursing career should or shouldnt be. Follow your heart. Carve out your own path in nursing. There is no one right way for all nurses to start their careers or to continue their careers. We all have differing backgrounds, interests, personalities, temperaments, goals, and dreams. Everyone told me I couldn’t work in psych right out of school because I would forget my skills. I don’t think I had any skills just yet! But I was drawn to psych and so I did it. Afterwards, I transitioned into the emergency room. Boy did that psych experience come in handy!
