Remembering Our Nursing Colleagues

Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember those who lost their lives in military service. If you’ve never been to the Nurses Section of Arlington National Cemetary in Arlington, VA, please take a look. Read about The Spirit of Nursing statue that watches over our departed colleagues in their final resting place. I visited the nurses section several years ago. As I walked amongst the headstones on this hallowed ground, I felt a mixture of pride and sadness. I also felt an amazing connection with their spirit – and a great sense of legacy – a legacy of honor, of service, and of duty. I had the sense that they were propelling me forward, reminding me that they were always with me in my mission to heal, to teach, and to nurture – and to light the world.
