Retreat FAQs

When does the retreat start/end?

horseOur opening workshop is the evening of Thursday, April 4th at 7 p.m. (see the schedule for earlier optional networking/dinner). Our closing circle will be Sunday, April 7th at 11 a.m. That is a total of three resort nights.

Who should attend?

All nurses at every stage of their careers including RNs, LPN/LVNs, advanced practice nurses – whether employed, unemployed, self-employed, retired or student.

Do I have to make my own reservation to stay at Miraval?

Yes. Call and use special booking ID 81004 or “Empowered Nurse, Enlightened Practice Group” to get the special rates I have negotiated for our group. Only those registered for the conference and their guests can take advantage of this special rate.

Is there an additional cost to attend the workshop?

Yes. We are charging a reduced rate of $299 early bird until January 31, 2019, and $349 as of February 1, 2020, for the workshop portion. You or one of your guests must be registered for the workshop to take advantage of the discounted resort rate we negotiated. A limited number of scholarships are available. Contact us for more details.

May I stay off-site and only attend the daily workshop?

Yes and No. Only registered guests of Miraval are permitted on the property. However, if you live in the area and don’t wish to sleep at the resort, Miraval has negotiated a special day rate for this event. Please contact our office for additional details. I do recommend that you stay on the property overnight to have the most empowering and restful experience possible.

Would it be appropriate to bring a spouse or friend who is not attending the workshop?

Absolutely and I encourage it! There is plenty to do (including golf, horseback riding, relaxing at the pool, classes, etc.) while you are in workshop sessions. Likewise, you will have plenty of free time to spend with your guests or by yourself if you so choose!

Are children allowed at Miraval?

No one under the age of 14 is permitted on the grounds.

What if I’d love to come but really can’t afford it right now?

Where there is a will there is always a way. We always find the time and money for the things that are truly important to us. If you don’t have the personal funds, ask for the trip (or part of it) as a gift from family or close friends. Asking for what you want and need is part of being an empowered nurse! Set a goal to be part of this event and you will find a way to make it happen. Sharing a room will also help to reduce your cost.

Will continuing education credits be offered for nurses?

Yes! This activity has been approved for 9.5 contact hours by NJSNA. New Jersey State Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission On Accreditation.*

Can I deduct any of the expenses associated with this continuing education conference on my taxes?

This is a question for your tax preparer but it is possible that part of these expenses will be deductible as an education expense if you itemize on your taxes.

What if I want to stay a few extra days before or after the retreat – can I do that and still get the discounted group rate?

Yes! And I encourage you to do that. Miraval will extend the special rates for three days before and after the workshop dates. So you and your guests can extend your stay to fully take advantage of all that the resort has to offer. You’re already there. You may as well take advantage of this unique offer!
